Vintage 1960 Gibson Melody Maker
This 55 Year old guitar is 100% original with zero modifications and no repairs This vintage Gibson guitar features a single cutaway with one singe coil pickup. This Melody Maker is super rare! (Most single pickup guitars were dual cutaway, and most single cutaway guitars were dual pickups.) This very rare 1960 Melody Maker is a very light guitar. The guitar has a nice, fat nut width of 1 11/16 inches and a full scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with a 60’s style profile. Rosewood fretboard with 22 original jumbo frets and inlaid dot position markers.One dot marker is missing but is easy to replace.(see pictures) Gold silk-screen “Gibson” headstock logo. Open-back strip tuners with oval white plastic buttons. The D & G string tuners are slightly bent but still work fine. (see pictures)
The Serial number (0 9057) stamped in yellow on the back of the headstock. Black plastic “all-on-one-plate” pickguard with the words “Melody Maker” in white at the end of the fretboard. Single ‘early-style’ Melody Maker pickup (black plastic-covered 7/8 inch thick single-coil without adjustable polepieces) with an output of 7.25k. Two controls (one volume, one tone) and jack input, all mounted on pickguard. Two CentraLab potentiometers stamped “134 6028” (July 1960) and single Sprague “Bumble-Bee” capacitor. Gold plastic bell-shape “Bell” knobs. Combination wrap-over bar bridge/tailpiece. This amazing little guitar is in excellent plus (8.75) condition, with almost no belt-buckle wear on the back. The guitar has few small marks on the edges but nothing major. The guitar includes the original imitation brown crocodile skin covered chipboard case. This case is in fair condition considering it is 55 yrs old. The guitar will be professionally packaged and shipped insured for your full purchase price!
